Southwark District Scouts provides Scouting to 600 young people across the Borough

Most of our groups have their own Beaver colony, Cub pack, and Scout troop. We also have two Explorer Scout units and a Scout Network. We aim to offer challenge and adventure to all our members.  We believe in helping our young people fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves.  We’re working to make Scouting available to all and we’re passionate about what we do.

Each year we hold a district Beaver sleepover, district Cub camp and district Scout camp. Alongside sports days, chess competitions, cooking competitions and loads more.

The District also owns the fantastic Waylands campsite in Westerham available for hire if you want to get back to nature and camping basics.  We also have Scout House available for hire for events.

Skills to succeed in life

Scouting isn’t just singing round the camp fire and toasting marshmallows (though you can do that too!). It’s learning to speak publicly, how to organise activities and how to face your fears. Its learning practical skills from starting a fire to updating a website that young people will use throughout their life.

Groups within the Southwark District have an extensive programme of events and activities that help young people gain some independence, develop their social skills and get them working in a team. Scouts builds skills for life.

Scout House

Scout House is Southwark District’s Headquarters and is located in Bermondsey. It is also available for hire!

There’s plenty of space for a dance or sports event and all proceeds go to the District’s efforts to help young people build skills for life.

Please note: Scout House is not available to hire for parties or weddings.
